Registration is now open. Only a few spots remain for kindergarten.
UFLI (pronounced "you-fly") stands for the University of Florida Literacy Institute.
It is a structured, research-based program that teaches children to read through systematic phonics.
The Kindergarten program, UFLI Foundations, helps children:
Understand how sounds and letters work together
Learn to read and write real words and sentences
Grow into confident, independent readers
UFLI is based on the Science of Reading, which shows that:
Reading must be taught explicitly and step by step
Children need strong phonemic awareness (hearing sounds)
Daily, cumulative practice builds lasting skills
It supports all learners, including those who struggle.
Each lesson includes:
๐ Warm-Up & Review โ practicing letter sounds and blending
โจ New Skill โ one clear phonics concept
๐งฉ Blending Words โ putting sounds together to read
๐ง High-Frequency Words โ introduced in small, manageable steps
๐ Decodable Text โ reading stories with only known sounds
โ๏ธ Spelling & Writing โ applying skills in writing
Lessons are quick, engaging, and interactiveโjust right for Kindergarten!
By the end of Kindergarten, your child will likely be able to:
Say all letter sounds and blend them into words
Read and write CVC words like โcat,โ โrun,โ โhopโ
Read high-frequency words (e.g., the, is, and)
Decode new words by sound
Begin reading decodable books independently
You can support your childโs reading growth by:
๐ก Practicing letter sounds (with flashcards or magnetic letters)
๐ Reading aloud together, pointing to each word
๐ Asking: โWhat sound does that word start with?โ
๐ง Encouraging them to โstretch outโ sounds when reading
We want every child to become a strong, confident, and joyful readerโstarting with the right foundations, right from the beginning!
