Wordly Wise 3000 Kindergarten Curriculum
Helping Young Learners Build Vocabulary and Language Skills
Wordly Wise 3000 is a research-based vocabulary program that introduces Kindergarten students to rich, meaningful language in a fun and age-appropriate way. It is designed to help young learners develop a strong vocabulary foundation that supports their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
A strong vocabulary is essential for reading comprehension, oral expression, and academic success. Wordly Wise 3000 helps students build and use vocabulary words in context so they can better understand stories, express ideas clearly, and grow as confident communicators.
Each lesson is taught over two weeks and includes:
- A read-aloud story introducing 10 new vocabulary words
- Picture cards and discussion to make words meaningful and visual
- Rereading and identifying vocabulary in context
- Fun activities like sorting, sequencing, partner talk, and drawing
- Poem reading for rhyme and rhythm awareness
- Take-home activities for family connections
- A light, informal assessment to track vocabulary understanding
Throughout the year, your child will:
- Learn and use over 100 rich vocabulary words
- Practice listening and comprehension through stories and poems
- Talk about word meanings and connections to real life
- Develop stronger speaking and writing vocabulary
- Build early reading confidence through repetition and word play
You can support your child by:
- Talking about new words they’ve learned
- Reading the weekly story together at home
- Playing word games (e.g., 'Which word means soft and light?')
- Encouraging your child to use new words in daily conversations
- Celebrating when your child notices a vocabulary word in a book or conversation
To help every child develop a rich and useful vocabulary, deepen their comprehension, and become confident communicators through meaningful language experiences.
